MNTC athletes, all in peak form, spent last Saturday blazing around the Armory oval and when the FAT device was finally packed away and the batons safely sheathed, our tenacious team had accumulated 28 PRs, 19 MNTC All-Time Top Ten Performances, 6 Medals, and 3 MNTC Records! New marks were established in the Boys’ 3000 by freshman Martin Hronec (10:51.42), the Girls’ 3000 by Leah “Tilty” Hayem (11:56.48), and the Boys’ 400 by Jin “JDub” Watanabe (54.97). Silver Medals went to Martin and Tilty for their 3k efforts, “Ravin’ Maeven” Resk took the Bronze behind Tilty in the 3k, and our Girls 15-16 4×200 Meter Relay, Girls 17-18 4×200, and Boys 17-18 4×200 all won Bronze medals. CoCo “2COs” Sagoo-Jones went to No. 2 All-Time MNTC with her 28.40 in the 200 and No. 3 with an 8.18 in the 55 Meter Dash, and Caleb “Twodens” Park rocketed to the No. 2 spot in both the 55 and 400 with times of 7.07 and 55.91. Our Indoor Records list has been updated to include the new All-Time Top Ten performances along with every 4×200 relay split. You’re welcome, track nerds! Out on the roads, Lyna “Lyna Bean” Rochdi, running with her dad, completed the New York City Half Marathon in 2 hours, 1 minute, and 27 seconds! Next up for the MNTC Tigers, the Front Runners Meet on 3/26 in the cavernous Armory. Drop by for exciting races and world class grub at the Armory snack bar which just earned its second Michelin star. 🙂
