On September 20th four MNTC runners kicked off the high school cross country season with fine performances in Van Cortland Park. Leah, Maeve, Lia, and Susan, running for Eleanor Roosevelt HS, took on the hilly 5k course and came home with times of 22:40, 23:32, 23:57, and 25:15. Leah, Maeve, and Lia finished 3rd, 6th, and 7th out of 55 competitors at the season opener in the Bronx. The recent stretch of rainy weather in New York caused the cancellation of two early October meets so the ELRO harriers won’t return to action until the Manhattan Borough Championships on October 22nd. The ELRO team, entirely composed of MNTC athletes, has qualified for the elite PSAL NY City XC Championships in each of the last two seasons. They’ll seek a Three-Peat on 10/22!
